OUR MISSION

Nigerian Police recorded 717 reported rape cases in five months, between January and May 2020. It was seen that 89% of the victims were below the age of 19.
This is said to be a very minute fraction in comparison to the number of cases that never get to be heard.
The disparity owing to factors like fear, lack of funds, oppression, ignorance, a lack of information and poor access to help in general.
NEAR is here to put a drastic end to that by providing the very many platforms at its disposal to:
1) Encourage victims to speak up
2) Speak on behalf of victims who would ordinarily be considered faceless or voiceless in the society by virtue of social status
3) Provide pro bono legal services in cases where it becomes neccessary
4) Organize seminars and talk shops that enlighten with ways to avoid and also handle rape situations
5) Provide links to therapy sessions for dealing with post traumatic syndromes from a rape encounter.
6 ) Give Media attention to  genuine case of rape as deemed neccessary
7) Serve as a steady link between the masses and both the legislative and executive arm of the government in a bit to give justice to all
Holistically, NEAR is on a mission to empower rape victims with the information and resources they need to deal with the ordeal. generally deter rapist by pushing for justice and enlightening the public on it’s wrong with the hope to create a rape free society
